Olot, "la ciudad de los volcanes", es un enclave especialmente conocido por su interés natural y por formar parte del Parque Natural de la Zona Volcánica de la Garrotxa.

Olot is the capital of the "La Garrotxa"  region and head of the judicial district of Olot in the province of Gerona, Catalonia. It has about 34,000 inhabitants and is situated on a plain surrounded by mountains and crossed by the river Fluvià and Riudaura.
It is a city best known for its natural attractions and for being part of the Natural Park of Volcanic Zone of the Garrotxa and the municipality is acceded to the European Landscape Network.
In the municipality of Olot there are four volcanoes, Montolivet, Montsacopa, (these two recommended to visit), Garrinada and Bisaroques. The presence of volcanic materials contributes to give strong personality to the landscape surrounding the city.
The regions around Olot also have a rich natural heritage with numerous springs, wetlands of  the "La Moixina" an "La Deu" (a forest with wetlands), the Fageda d'en Jorda (exceptional in Catalonia and in the Mediterranean climate to be located in a plane) Instead, the volcanoes of Santa Margarita (which has a large circular crater and a chapel in the center) and Croscat (with a large cut result of the extraction of clays that took place in this volcano and allows observe inner layers of the volcano).
